David Kemper Returns to the JGB

David Kemper played drums with keyboardist Melvin Seals in the Jerry Garcia Band from 1983 through 1993. Following his tenure with the JGB, Kemper returned to session work, including an extensive run with Bob Dylan from 1996-2001 (both on the road and on studio recordings like 1997’s Time Out of Mind and 2001’s Love & Theft). Seals continued to tour after Garcia’s death, leading a new version of the JGB. Now, Kemper’s career will come full circle when the drummer replaces Sam Howard in the current incarnation of the JGB. The latest version of JGB features Seals, bassist Martin Holland, singers Judith Coleman and Mary Holland and guitarist Stu Allen. The JGB will perform next at Minneapolis, MN’s Trocaderos Nightclub on August 2. The group will also appear at Black River Falls, WI’s Grateful Garcia Gathering from August 3-4 and San Francisco’s Jerry Garcia Amphitheatre on August 5 as part of “Jerry Day.” Looking ahead the group will celebrate New Year’s eve at Big Sky, MT’s at the Big Sky Resort in Big Sky, MT.  more at kindweb

That’s what this is all about.” >> Mickey Hart

A perfect way to start a little trip to the North Shore, and it just seemed to get better and better as the day progressed...
